Guys Farm Sponsored Walks

Between: 20th June 2026 - 21st June 2026 Location: Guys Farm Activity Centre, Lancaster, UK

Guys Farm is 40 years old next year, so we are planning a celebration for all the owners -THAT’S YOU!!!! Guys Farm belongs to all the members of the Girlguiding Counties of Lancashire West and Lancashire North West.

With staggered starts from 9.30am we are inviting the families of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides & Rangers to take part in, or just supervise their children undertaking a challenge starting & finishing at Guys Farm – celebrating the incredible natural historian and writer David Attenborough.

We encourage the Girls to “Bring Dad Out” to celebrate Father’s Day and Dads will receive a free drink and cake from the pop up café on site. Of course, there are also lots of places where families can enjoy their own picnic on the day(we also have an undercover shelter if its raining!)

These are the challenges we have planned – families may choose to do one from a different section if they wish.

RAINBOWS:  follow the trail around the site, stopping to carry out nature related tasks at each “station”

BROWNIES: A walk trail of up to 5km along part of the Wyre way carrying out a scavenger challenge as they go. (there are opportunities to cut the walk short if necessary)

GUIDES and RANGERS: A circular walk of up to 10km around the lakes near Guys Farm – a geocaching or scavenger hunt challenge (this can be cut to 8km if necessary)

RANGERS: Rangers have an optional added challenge to help us achieve a total 100 climbs to the top of our High Ropes course or 100 Abseils on our tower. At the top of each ascent the Rangers will shout an amazing fact about David Attenborough (information will be available to choose from!)

Marshalls will be on hand to direct people at tricky spots on any of the routes.

Each family is asked to pay £10 in advance for each Guiding member taking part – the girls will be provided with a drink, biscuit & badge.

Other siblings /friends can join in and families can buy extra badges and drinks from the pop-up café.

Additional sponsorship can be collected using this form: sponsor form

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
