On the 3rd October 1987 the site was opened for use after a determined journey of fundraising across the Lancashire North West and Lancashire West Counties. The site has changed considerably since then, there is a shop, climbing wall, archery course, showers and toilets located close to camping fields, and a small lake for water based activities. However, it was the vision and drive of that group of people then, that made everything possible today.
In 2017, Guys Farm celebrated its pearl anniversary and to commemorate the occasion, Lancashire North West and Lancashire West created a challenge pack and a special badge for all sections of Girlguiding.
